Chapter 184: Alliance
"What?!" Joshua said in surprise. "Say it again? I think I misheard you. I could’ve sworn you just said something ridiculous."
They had been enemies for fifty years, so proposing an alliance out of the blue was absurd, especially considering the countless battles, betrayals, and bloodshed between them.
Xander was not surprised by Joshua’s reaction because he would react the same if he were in his shoes. "I know this sounds crazy, but I want us to be allies."
"You bastard! Do you think I would fall to your tricks?" of course, Joshua suspected they had bad intention because they had been enemies for decades. "If you have nothing else to say, then I’m ending this call."
"Joshua, I’m serious. I truly want to form an alliance with you." Xander said with a serious tone and expression.
Joshua narrowed his eyes. "Give me a solid reason."
"The Mana Crystals mine was discovered by our three cities, so it should belong to us. But no, Nightshire City wants to claim it entirely for themselves. This is not fair. It’s completely unacceptable!" Xander also brought up the masked man to make Joshua consider his proposal because he knew what Ren had done to his soldiers.
The more Joshua listened, the more interested he became. Of course, he didn’t agree immediately because the proposal was coming from Xander, the city lord of Icria City.
"I know you can’t decide it immediately, so I will give you time to think about it. But I truly hope you will accept my proposal." Xander didn’t force Joshua to give an answer immediately because it would only increase the chances of rejection.
"I will give you an answer tomorrow." Joshua needed to think about it carefully because one wrong move could lead to serious consequences.
"Before I end the call, I want to add one more thing. If you agree to my proposal, we can make a peace treaty that could last ten years, twenty years, or even forever." Xander had already discussed this with his generals, so he was fully prepared to negotiate the terms if Joshua showed interest.
