Chapter 230: I can’t resist your temptation.
He returned moments later with the dessert box and two spoons tucked between his fingers.
Anne straightened up. "What did you order?"
He opened the box to reveal two perfectly warm, gooey chocolate lava cakes with chilled scoops of vanilla melting at the edges.
"You sneaky man." Her eyes widened with delight.
"You cooked for me, and I wanted to feed you something sweet," he said with a wink, settling down beside her again. He scooped a piece of the warm cake with a little swirl of ice cream and held it to her lips. "Say ’ahh.’"
She took it in slowly, eyes closing as the flavors melted on her tongue. "Mmm. This is so unfair. You are going to spoil me."
"That’s the idea," he murmured, brushing a thumb across the corner of her mouth to catch a bit of chocolate.
She grabbed the spoon from him and scooped a bite in return. "Your turn," she said, voice soft, teasing.
He leaned forward and took the bite straight from her spoon, lips brushing her fingers, gaze locked on hers. His foot brushed against her leg under the table. His hand settled on her thigh.
Her stomach fluttered.
"You do realize," he said huskily, "that if dessert had come any later, I might have skipped it entirely and gone straight for something else."
