Chapter 215: An untouched land
The next morning, Augustine stirred before the sun had fully risen. Beside him, Anne lay tangled in the sheets, her hair cascading across the pillow like dark silk. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her bare shoulder.
"Wake up, sweetheart," he murmured into her skin. "I’ll take you somewhere."
"Mmm... where?" she asked, voice rough with sleep.
"I have another surprise for you."
Her lashes fluttered open. "Another one? Are you trying to spoil me completely?"
"That’s the plan," he said, letting his thumb trace the curve of her collarbone. "Now get up. The yacht will dock any time."
She groaned in protest, but he pulled her gently upright.
"Go freshen up. We’ll leave after breakfast."
Anne padded toward the bathroom.
By late morning, the yacht drifted to a smooth halt, its sleek hull brushing up against the wooden dock. Augustine and Anne stepped ashore. The sun poured gold over the coastline, making the sea shimmer and turning the sand into a field of light. Palm trees swayed slowly in the breeze.
It was a paradise untouched, arranged by Lucien. The island was completely uninhabited, wild, and brimming with life. Thick jungle framed the beach, stretching deep into the island’s heart. The air carried the earthy scent of moss and flowers.
