Married To My Ex's Brother, Reborn Miraculously

Chapter 67: The trap

Anne arrived at her childhood home, but the moment she stepped inside, an unsettling feeling crept over her. Something was not right.

Patricia greeted her with an overly bright smile, making Anne’s stomach tighten with unease.

This wasn’t normal. What was she up to?

Anne’s skepticism grew.

"You’ve finally come home after so long," Patricia said enthusiastically, pulling her into the living room and seating her on the sofa. "Ever since your father was hospitalized, you’ve barely visited. This is your home—you should come more often."

Home?

Anne sneered inwardly. It had once been her home—when her father was still around. But the moment he had his accident and fell into a coma, this place had become nothing short of a nightmare.

Patricia’s relentless assault and Lorie’s constant scheming had driven her away. If they hadn’t treated her so harshly, she wouldn’t have been forced to rely on others, nor would she have ended up depending entirely on Denis.

Now, watching Patricia feign concern, a wave of disgust churned in Anne’s stomach.

"I may not have given birth to you, but I’ve always treated you like my own daughter," Patricia continued with a sigh. "I only spoke to you harshly to guide you, to discipline you. It was never out of resentment."

Anne let out a bitter scoff. "To discipline me? Really? Locking me in a dark storage room and beating me with a stick—that was your idea of discipline?" Her eyes turned cold as she gritted her teeth. "Drop the act. No one else is here. Just tell me what you really want."
