Chapter 63: Tania’s despair
Love?
Denis frowned in uncertainty, questioning whether he still felt the same way about Tania as he once had. He had wanted her back in his life, yet lately, his thoughts had been consumed by Anne—even to the point of imagining her while he was having sex with Tania. He wasn’t sure if what he felt for Tania was love anymore.
"Denis, are you planning to leave me?" Tania’s voice wavered with a mix of anger and desperation.
Denis remained silent, and his lack of response only deepened her unease.
"This is because of Anne, isn’t it?" she pressed, her lower lip trembling as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks.
Denis exhaled sharply. "When you weren’t with me, Anne was. She took care of everything for three years, so of course, she left an impression on me. But the problems in my life right now aren’t because of her."
He turned away, avoiding her gaze. "The company’s recent troubles have been weighing on me." He didn’t tell her the whole truth.
A flicker of relief passed across Tania’s face upon hearing that his distress stemmed from work rather than Anne. Blinking away her tears, she forced a smile. "Let me stay with you. I promise I’ll take care of you and help ease your stress." She reached for his arm, leaning against his shoulder.
Denis instantly pulled away, shaking off her touch. "Don’t come here so often. My grandfather is returning soon—he won’t like it."
