However, Munni clearly didn’t plan to tell Doctor Yang about the deliberate words she used to provoke Yisen. She flashed a slightly mysterious smile and replied modestly, "Just some words that could provoke him."
Doctor Yang was amused by Munni, and a hearty laugh burst from his throat.
"I’m really grateful for your treatment and care for Yisen. In the coming period, we might still need to trouble you until Yisen recovers."
"You’re welcome. Actually, I should be the one thanking you. The hospital director promised to promote me once Chairman Xu is discharged."
Originally, Xu Yisen’s primary doctor wasn’t Doctor Yang. After having Tang Haoliang investigate the background of that doctor, Munni suggested to the hospital director to replace the primary doctor with Doctor Yang.
Doctor Yang had worked in the hospital for over a decade without a promotion, so finally getting one this time, he naturally credited Munni for it.
"Then, let me congratulate you in advance. I’ll have someone send you a gift on the day of your promotion."
"Thank you in advance then." After joking around with Munni for a bit, Doctor Yang waved at Munni, "Go to the ward and see Chairman Xu. He started calling for you as soon as he woke up. I guess you really did manage to provoke him."
Munni couldn’t help but chuckle. She nodded, turned around, and went back into Xu Yisen’s hospital room.
When Xu Yisen woke up after a month in a coma, it was undoubtedly a joyous moment for the Xu Family.
When Munni returned to the ward, Bai Wan Yun was sitting by the bedside, chatting and laughing with Xu Yisen. It was clear she was genuinely happy.
Xu Haotian was also sitting beside Bai Wan Yun. Although he didn’t speak much, the uncontrollable smile on his face revealed his relief at Yisen waking up.
The three of them turned their heads toward Munni as she walked back into the ward.
Bai Wan Yun knew that in the past month, Munni had worked harder than anyone else and was the most eager for Xu Yisen to wake up.
So after Munni returned to the room, Bai Wan Yun and Xu Haotian didn’t stay long, leaving space for just Munni and Xu Yisen.
"Grandma is still at home waiting for our news. We will bring her to visit you another day. Yisen, take good care of yourself. Munni, you take care too. We’re heading back now."
"Okay, mom and dad, take care." Munni saw Bai Wan Yun and Xu Haotian to the door of the ward before returning inside and gently closing the door.
She sat down in the sofa chair where Bai Wan Yun had been sitting, staring intently at Xu Yisen on the hospital bed with no attempt to hide the adoration in her eyes.
Although Xu Yisen was awake, he was still very weak. He struggled to speak, "Are you hurt?"
"I’m fine."
"That’s good then."
Munni reached out and gently touched his increasingly gaunt face, muttering, "We’ll have to get you nourished. You’ve gotten so thin."
Xu Yisen slowly raised his hand and instinctively grasped Munni’s wrist. Without the strength to speak further, he could only smile at Munni.
Munni noticed his weariness and knew he just woke up, so she shouldn’t disturb him. She said, "You rest for a while."
Xu Yisen didn’t answer, he just held Munni’s wrist a little tighter.
Munni understood and smiled reassuringly, "I’m not leaving. I’ll stay right here."
Xu Yisen nodded. He was about to close his eyes for some rest but something flashed through his mind, prompting him to struggle to speak again.
"Did... you... see... anyone... today?"
It was a simple question, but Xu Yisen spoke it with effort, his words coming out a bit haltingly.
