Chapter 332 - 338: Dallas Taylor Returns to Ask for Monthly Tickets (4)
Louis Cox held Maeve in his arms, with Mason Sutton and Mia Ginger, the four of them saying goodbye at the school gate.
His mind was a blank.
He had no awareness of what he was thinking.
It seemed as though he was thinking nothing.
Yet, his thin lips formed a sharp line.
The hand gripping the steering wheel was tense, the suppressed anger causing veins to throb subtly.
He thought of Mia Ginger’s feelings.
Faced with his harsh words, the young girl might be scared and wronged, might be lost and disheartened, perhaps not even having lunch, tearfully returning to the dormitory.
Thinking of this made his heart ache.
Because of that heartache, even though he had left so far, he couldn’t move forward.
He turned around and came back.
Thinking, no matter what, it’s best to meet face to face.
She had just been wronged the day before yesterday, without a phone at the moment, so even if he was angry, this was not the time to lose his temper.
But then?
He saw a smiling Mia Ginger.
Not only was she with Louis Cox and Maeve, but also with Mason Sutton.
Louis Cox grew up with her, usually hugged and tangled, which he was extremely dissatisfied with. Mason Sutton, when she was with him, always had a smile in her eyes, as if talking to him was a particularly pleasant thing.
And what was he?!
Like a parental presence.
Mia Ginger feared him, every time she was with Louis Cox, seeing him made her nervous and guilty, like a child caught by a parent making mistakes.
What did she take him for?
An object of admiration and fear?
Needing to be revered, followed blindly and timidly.
Koa Jackson felt confused for the first time.
His mind was flooded with images and thoughts, chaotic and tangled, which he couldn’t unravel for a while.
He had never had feelings experience.
In the past twenty years, the only girl he thought about was Mia Ginger. Even when his family underwent significant changes and he went abroad as a child, he occasionally thought of the little girl who crawled along the edge of the bed.
In his imagination, the little girl should have grown into someone with thick hair, big bright eyes, and a rounded face.
But Mia Ginger wasn’t like that.
Her hair was so soft, still like a little girl’s, her eyes not as big as he imagined, but clear and dark, always looked pitiful, and her face not rounded, small, just the size of his palm.
The first time he saw her at the Jackson Family, his heart ached.
Her exposed thin arms and legs, neck too, seemed that with one hard pinch, they could break.
Forcing calm, yet speaking and eating cautiously, very guarded.
He felt uncomfortable.
The girl crawling around the bed, giggling, shouldn’t be like this.
She should have grown to be a little sun, warm, rather than what he saw now, fragile and pitiable, like a rose with thorns.
He thought of taking care of her, and he was willing to take care of her, for the first time he put in effort.
Unexpected things kept happening along the way.
But even so——
The two of them still came together, he felt her feelings, also felt his own heartbeat.
But now——
Did he wonder if it was merely his own illusion?
He had never been in love, yet there were many couples around him, even those who entered marriage.
No one was like Mia Ginger.
Indeed, there was no woman like Mia Ginger.
Revering and relying on him, looking up to him, even fearing and dreading him.
