Chapter 327 - 225 Production Line Adjustment (Third Update)
Chen Xin’s leisurely days at home did not last long. He stayed in his own shelter for just two or three days, merely managing to dry the vegetables needed for dehydration and hadn’t even had the chance to pack them away before the people from the research institution showed up at his door. They informed him that the production line for the Isotope Thermoelectric Battery had been installed and tested.
Upon hearing this news, Chen Xin didn’t dare to be negligent, so he quickly handled some affairs of his family’s shelter and took Han Ping back to the city.
Riding snowmobiles with the research institution staff as they sped back to the city, Chen Xin and Han Ping were adequately protected by their Exoskeleton Protective Suits. However, the staff who came to pick them up were visibly struggling with the cold.
This obviously made the staff very envious of the equipment Chen Xin was wearing, unlike them who could only wear as many layers as possible.
Of course, the clothes that these staff members wore were also extremely warm, including down jackets, windbreakers, sweaters, and thermal underwear.
For fieldwork staff like them, their clothing was already equivalent to that of the Antarctica expedition team, ensuring they would not suffer frostbite or get frozen due to inadequate clothing.
Even though the current temperature was more than fifty degrees below zero, just wearing one more thick sweater could still resist the cold.
But how could such clothing warmth compare to the Exoskeleton Protective Suits worn by Chen Xin and Han Ping? These suits were electrically heated and, compared to merely relying on body heat, were obviously more comfortable being windproof, warm, and electrically heated.
While envy remained just envy, the nation had begun to replicate Chen Xin’s Exoskeleton Protective Suit; however, imitation still required time. In the short term, it was almost impossible for these fieldwork staff to be issued such suits, and they had to wait a while longer to wear similar protective suits.
Chen Xin, along with Han Ping, entered a small shelter, which by now had been completely transformed. Upon entry, not only was there a rigorous safety check, but entering the production area also required wearing special radiation protective suits, with dust removal and sterilization processes to ensure cleanliness and safety within the production area.
"Mr. Chen Xin, you finally arrived. Everything is ready; we were just waiting for you to conduct the final adjustments," said a few of the research staff who had been waiting for a long time as they approached Chen Xin upon seeing him arrive.
"Has all the equipment been installed?" Chen Xin greeted these research staff and then inquired about the main business.
"Everything has been installed and tested, and it’s currently ready to run. However, since we are using experimental parameters provided by the lab, we have not yet conducted a trial run," the research staff, speaking with a serious expression, explained this matter to Chen Xin, with their faces unable to hide their complete worry.
This was not because they lacked confidence in Chen Xin, but because manufacturing matters could not be joked about or handled sloppily.
The nation put great effort into this project, even allocating massive resources to build the production line amidst blizzards, knowing from the start that the process parameters had issues and were ready to waste some materials to experiment and explore the correct process parameters. However, a tiny error in these process parameters could trigger a severe safety accident, and the research staff were clearly not confident enough to proceed directly.
Moreover, under the current circumstances, every resource is incredibly precious, and nobody wants to waste anything if they can avoid it.
"Don’t worry, now that I’m here, there will be no problem; adjusting the process parameters is relatively straightforward," Chen Xin assured them confidently, without the concern the research staff had.
Both sides didn’t waste any more words, and after a few more questions from Chen Xin to the research staff, he directly prepared to enter the production area.
Since Chen Xin needed to enter the production area, naturally he also had to change his protective suit.
According to regulations, Chen Xin and Han Ping removed the Exoskeleton and helmets and, with the help of staff, put on the special radiation protective suits, went through strict dust removal and sterilization procedures, and then entered the production area.
Inside the production area, all equipment had been installed, illuminated by a lighting system powered by an isotope generator, making the entire area as bright as daylight.
In this post-apocalyptic world, where everything is pitch-black and only artificial lights provide any illumination, the brightly lit scene was truly long-awaited.
Chen Xin couldn’t help but look up at the fluorescent tubes installed on the ceiling, feeling a sense of a world apart.
However, he quickly put these thoughts out of his mind and, accompanied by Han Ping and the research staff, began inspecting the production equipment.
Chen Xin’s inspection was different from the others; he merely opened the system upgrade interface to check the survival points required for the equipment upgrades.
Unlike previous upgrades, this time Chen Xin didn’t aim for a major transformation or qualitative leap in the equipment; he was only adjusting the process parameters, which strictly speaking, was still an upgrade, but it was a minor one, not involving significant modifications.
Accordingly, the survival points consumed were not much, and even without Chen Xin investing materials to reduce the consumption, the required survival points were not many.
Nevertheless, regardless of how few, Chen Xin wouldn’t waste survival points and, after taking a lap around the production area and examining all the production equipment, chose to upgrade them collectively as a whole, only optimizing the production process and technical parameters, as well as making minor adjustments and improvements to the equipment’s production efficiency, thereby achieving the purpose of adjusting process parameters and incidentally boosting production efficiency.
Chen Xin had to restrain himself from the notion of transforming the entire production line into a fully automated one, as such a transformation would consume resources and survival points far beyond the budget, and it would be contrary to the original plan.
After all, according to the plan, this production line was intended to adjust the process parameters to ensure the produced Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries could meet the expected performance, and then replicate the new production line elsewhere.
Therefore, Chen Xin couldn’t undertake large-scale upgrades and renovations to the production line but could only make small adjustments.
Fortunately, this wasn’t a difficult task, and simply controlling his thoughts could achieve the goal of adjusting and upgrading the scheme.
As for the materials needed for this upgrade, as long as Chen Xin asked, someone would naturally deliver them to him.
Once he had gathered the upgrade materials, Chen Xin didn’t delay and directly used the upgrade function on the entire production line.
Though it was a minor upgrade and materials were prepared, upgrading the whole production line still consumed two thousand of Chen Xin’s survival points.
Fortunately, the upgrade effect was absolutely satisfactory, and after seeing the green light sweep over, Chen Xin said to the research staff, "I have completed the adjustments; prepare for a trial run."
