Chapter 317 - 315 Safe Production (Part 1)
The blizzard that raged for nearly a month finally calmed down, but even so, the temperature didn’t rise significantly.
The cooling brought by the blizzard was an instantaneous process, and now, without the sun, the temperature’s recovery is a very slow process.
However, after the blizzard stopped, the temperature rose from the original minus seventy degrees to over minus sixty degrees. An increase of more than ten degrees was already quite difficult.
"According to the meteorological department’s forecast, the temperature should be able to rise to around minus fifty degrees, but that is already the limit. Unless the dust in the sky disperses, there won’t be much further increase," the researcher explained to Chen Xin about the weather prediction from the meteorological department and handed him a detailed analysis report.
Chen Xin took the report, and although he didn’t recognize most of the technical terms, he read it seriously and then said, "It seems the weather will remain like this for now. Will it affect our subsequent construction?"
"There will definitely be an impact, which is unavoidable in the current environment." The researcher sighed helplessly before continuing, "The meteorological department, aided by supercomputers, has calculated the current environment. In light of the global extreme cold weather, even if the dust disperses and we get sunlight back, it will take hundreds or even thousands of years for the cold weather to alleviate.
So dealing with cold weather during construction is a challenge that we must face now and in the future. Even if there are impacts, we can only find ways to overcome them."
To this, Chen Xin could only nod in agreement, "Unless we build dome cities like in science fiction, using a dome to cover the entire city and improve the environment inside, there’s no way to avoid or change this cold weather."
"Dome cities..." Hearing Chen Xin’s words, the researcher couldn’t help but shake his head, "That would be wonderful, but we simply can’t build that right now!"
Dome cities are certainly wonderful, but building a dome that can encompass an entire city requires extraordinary materials, which current human technology is far from achieving.
Even though Chen Xin has the ability to upgrade systems, constructing a dome city isn’t something easily achieved. The number of survival points required just to upgrade a city is an unimaginable figure for Chen Xin.
However, while dome cities are out of reach, other things might be possible.
"Has the country arranged for production of the Exoskeleton Protective Suit designs I submitted?" Chen Xin inquired of the researcher, as he didn’t want his hard work to be shelved.
On hearing Chen Xin inquire about the Exoskeleton Protective Suit, the researcher quickly responded, "The country has already begun organizing production, but I heard they’re producing the exoskeleton and the protective suit parts separately."
"Producing them separately? Why?" Chen Xin was a bit puzzled, not understanding why the complete Exoskeleton Protective Suit was split up.
"It seems there are still some technical challenges with the exoskeleton production that need to be overcome, and the country feels the protective suits should be rolled out first." The researcher wasn’t fully clear on the matter but had some insight into the reasoning.
Compared to a protective suit, which merely incorporates heating features with metal wires, the exoskeleton part is evidently more complex, requiring higher technical precision.
Moreover, a crucial component is the high-performance battery used for the functionality of the exoskeleton. Together with the exoskeleton control system, this is the core of the exoskeleton. Without these parts, the exoskeleton is just a hollow frame with no practical value.
Among these, the control system is merely a matter of chips and programming. With the system template from Chen Xin’s sample, replicating a system isn’t difficult. But deciphering how to manufacture high-performance batteries requires time.
Nevertheless, the country obviously can’t wait until all technical challenges are solved before producing the Exoskeleton Protective Suits, so they’ve decided to separate them, first producing the more straightforward protective suit part to meet the needs of shelter residents for outdoor use, which is an understandable choice.
Chen Xin quickly understood why the country made such a decision and didn’t say more, instead asking the researcher about the installation progress of the production line, "What about the installation progress of the production line? How long until it’s completed?"
"The site construction is all finished, and all the factory buildings meet national standards. Equipment is currently being installed and tested, with complete installation expected this week; equipment commissioning will start next week," the researcher checked his notebook to confirm the progress before reporting to Chen Xin.
After that, the researcher also expressed concern, "Currently, we’re using process parameters sent from the laboratory. They previously made a 10KW Isotope Thermoelectric Battery using these parameters, so production should be fine. However, the power of the batteries might not meet expectations.
Although there’s an idea to adjust the process parameters through trial production, I feel we shouldn’t waste too many resources on this. Quickly refining and adjusting the parameters to produce products that meet requirements is key."
"Don’t worry, I already have a plan for this. Once all equipment is installed and tested, I’ll adjust the existing process parameters on the equipment before the first production begins." Chen Xin assured the researcher, as this was part of his plan.
The researcher nodded, noting this in his notebook before continuing, "Regarding workers, the municipal government helped recruit a batch. They’re currently being trained and should be ready to start once the equipment testing is completed."
"Safety must be a priority; our standards should be high, not low, to eliminate any potential safety incidents." Although Chen Xin himself could manually handle Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries, he didn’t think others could do the same.
Especially since producing Isotope Thermoelectric Batteries involves a lot of radioactive materials, any radiation leakage or contamination incident could have severe consequences, so emphasizing safety is never excessive.
"Rest assured, we’re also highly focused on safety and will eliminate all potential hazards." The researcher, addressing this issue, looked serious and earnestly assured Chen Xin.
