Jingzhe walked around his mother and placed his hands on her shoulders.
"Mom, there was no proposal. We were accompanying Meihua and Siping. Meihua wanted Mei Mei to try on dressed with her and in the end, we bought some dresses too. It was nothing special." He started pushing her out of his bedroom. "Why don’t you go and make a list of other baby names. Yue will not work."
Madam Feng rotated and walked back into the room. "Stop pushing me out, I came here so that we can discuss something more serious. It’s about my sister, your aunt and her daughter."
Jingzhe gulped. A dreadful feeling settled in the pit of his stomach. "What happened when you went away with them?"
His mother had been visibly afraid after she returned from sending off her sister and niece. Her lips were firm and thin, eyes narrowed and she went to the kitchen and cooked and baked for hours.
It was how she let out her frustrations. Jingzhe knew better than to disturb her when she was venting. He always waited until after to approach her.
