Her mother smiled, her grandmother almost shed tears. The empress mother and Chi Lian shared secret nods of approval. They had their girl, the next empress of the empire. All that was left to do was meet the family and see where they stood.
But the fact that they had arranged for their daughter to meet Junjie told them all that they needed to know.
"So, what did you do next after discovering my secret identity?" Junjie asked Zhenzhen.
She chuckled. "As silly as it sounds, I thought about becoming your side kick. Everyone with a secret identity needs a talented side kick."
Junjie’s smile widened and then it blossomed into more laughter. "You make it sound as if I was going around the world running on rooftops of buildings and jumping out of helicopters while you were on the ground shouting directions to me through a small earbud."
"That sounds like one of those mission impossible movies." She laughed lightly.
Junjie looked around, leaned a little closer and whispered, "I confess that I have watched each of those movies at least ten times."
Zhenzhen whispered, "I am worse because I double your number."
He twirled her around and when they came together again, they were laughing.
