Chapter 214: Jingzhe, seeking advice.
Jingzhe was having an almost similar conversation to the one Mei Mei and Rose were having at that very moment. He had only been able to stay in his room for an hour. After spending it attending a virtual meeting and sulking, he went to Mei Mei’s room and knocked on the door.
She was not in so he walked to the elevator and searched for floor 101 but he failed to find it. For five minutes, he strongly considered hacking into the hotel computers.
In the end, he gave up and went to the beach to find Mingzhu. She was buried in the sand with only her head sticking out. Liang was feeding her snacks. She had no plans of being separated from her cousins any time soon.
So, he found his mother who was sitting at the open bar and flirting with a bartender that looked half her age. He pulled her away and the found the most isolated part of the beach and settled into beach chairs which came with automatic parasols that rose as soon as they sensed weight.
After scanning the area for bugs, he told her all that had transpired.
He had just finished narrating the part where he told Mei Mei that he was not one of them.
Jingzhe fell back against the soft big beach chair and groaned. "I screwed up mom, I should not have said that. The conversation was a little testy but I put a giant clown foot in my mouth and ruined it all."
Madam Feng whacked him on the thigh with her palm. "It serves you right. You had the chance to make me a noble lady and you turned it down!!"
Jingzhe sat up, wincing. He had forgotten all the times his mother had sighed with envy while watching royal parades, tea parties, horse races and the like.
