Chapter 159: Reasons for sadness.
Madam Feng decided that enough tattle telling had been done. Things like things could start out funny but they always left bruised hearts in there path.
"Hua Qi cheese cake and other flavors have arrived." she shouted.
It was a clever distraction and it worked. They had all been clamoring for cake when they arrived. She led them to the living room where cakes of various varieties were waiting on a trolley.
Maids pushed in more trolleys with tea pots, cups, other snacks and everything that was necessary for a tea party. They forgot about Mei Mei, leaving her behind in the foyer.
Mei Mei shook her head. Had they come for her or Hua Qi’s cakes? None the less, she was grateful that the reunion had ended so simply. Nobody had complicated things for her or blamed her.
She picked up the shoe box and decided to put it away. She would distribute the shoes later to avoid being accused of unfairness. If she gave one person a gift right now, everyone would want one.
She called Chen mama over and handed her the box. "Chen mama, put this somewhere until our guests are gone. And make sure that the maids clean all of the rooms because knowing my family, some of them will be staying back. I am afraid that we are going to have a full house from now on."
Chen mama was beaming with happiness. "It is a good thing to have a full house young madam. We are glad to have something to do other than sit around. The madam is happy that her good cups and plates finally have some use."
"Until her fine china starts to break. First come the humans and then come the pets." Mei Mei could see the chaos coming from a mile away.
