After so much pull and push on picking toys, they moved to the clothing section on the mall. Times, had changed, even shopping centers were no longer the same. Holographic sales assistants had become more popular than human sales assistants. Racks of clothes could slide on their own, some even hovered in the air to make way when shops were crowded.
Smart mirrors lined every wall and they didn’t just reflect; they critiqued. Jingzhe did not need the opinion of the smart mirrors, or the AI females inside that blew kisses, winked and convinced male customers that were dashing young enough to pull off ridiculous designs.
He just cared about what Mei Mei thought would look good on him. She was still settling the children down in the resting area.
His hand touched a red shirt and a female holographic assistant popped up. "Looking for something to make her swoon or just something to make her say yes?" It asked with a wink.
He frowned at it and tilted his head to the right. "Mei Mei." he called out.
He took a step away from the hologram and it floated to his right side. "Is that your girlfriend?"
The holographic sales assistants had been programmed to be funny, flirty or serious, depending on the mood of the customer and who had accompanied them. Of course if one did not want to respond, they could simply send them away with a verbal command.
That verbal command was already on the tip of Jingzhe’s tongue. "Roll." he commanded.
Mei Mei arrived just as it vanished. She took his hand and they started a stroll through the aisles. "If you see something you like, point it out. Today’s bill is on your big sister." She looked back and said to him.
