Chapter 49: The dignified emperor in hiding.
The call came in the middle of the night.
Emperor Long Junjie had just put his head down on the pillow to get some much needed sleep after a long day. It had not just been one long day, it had been a few long days, starting from when Mo Liang returned to earth.
A call in the middle of the night was never a good one, it always meant that there was an emergency to handle and it was never a simple emergency like a cat in need of a bath or a dog in labor. It was always an emergency akin to a soldier venturing onto a battlefield.
"What?" he snarled the question.
"Did I wake you?" His father asked.
Junjie’s heart calmed down a bit when he recognized the voice on the other end of the phone. "No, I am wide awake because being an emperor means giving up the simple pleasure of sleep. But hey, who needs sleep when they can run the empire. Why are you calling me at this time royal father?"
"To give you a heads up." The former emperor chuckled. "Your aunt Rize has just entered the palace and she is not alone. She has brought Rose who is pretending to be her maid."
Junjie abandoned the phone and scrambled out of the bed, looking around like a cornered man in search of solace. He found the nearest closet and hid inside of it. Just thirty seconds later, his bedroom door was opened and more than one person entered.
From the pitter patter of many footsteps, Junjie assumed there were at least ten people. His royal agents never allowed anyone to enter his bedroom without their presence.
