Chapter 31: The smell of freedom.
After leaving the funeral, Mei Mei met up with Jingzhe at the location of the area where she wanted to open her space camp. She could not go to the developed areas, rent there was extremely high and there was no space for and amusement park so she had to settle for the ignored part of the city.
She chose a district that everyone called The Hollow because it was considered a scar on the dazzling beautiful face of the capital city. Once upon a time it was called the Muyu slum but the government designated it for development and it grew rapidly. At the height of technological development and expansion, it had been abandoned. The once beautiful skyscrapers which echoed prosperity were now like abandoned ghosts.
The inhabitants of The Hollow were mostly poor, those forgotten by the wealthy who had soared to the skies. In this shadow of the city, Mei Mei hoped to forge her own empire.
A realtor was showing them around, he had a small air filtration device on his nose but even that did not stop him from from frowning and looking disgusted.
Jingzhe almost stepped in shit and drew his leg back quickly. He could not tell if the shit was human or animal, either way it was shit.
"Mei Mei, are you sure that you want to buy land here? It stinks so much that even the flies that live here are looking for ways to move to the clean city."
He got a sky float from his bag pack, activated pulled it, pulled her hand and made her stand on it. They both elevated a few feet from the ground. When the realtor saw this, he got a sky float from his briefcase and did the same thing.
Sky floats had been invented by a scientist that watched cultivation animations so much that he had desired to create a flying sword. Unfortunately for him, flying swords were deemed dangerous and illegal so he had to adjust the design and create what looked like an oval shaped flying carpet with protective shields on the side to prevent the users from falling out. It was foldable so it could be carried around in any bag.
The sky float Jingzhe owned was the latest design which was sold for two million, nine hundred thousand nine nine yuan. The one the realtor had was an older model which cost one hundred thirty thousand yuan.
