Chapter 154: Anji’s First Operation
Combining both her medical knowledge and special training from Grandpa Jin, Anji injected her spiritual energy into Assistant Hu’s body and guided it to critical places. The internal bleeding was more serious than it appeared on the outside, and Anji had to choose between mending the gaping hole in the stomach or stitching the spleen back together.
Either way, Assistant Hu would require a long time to recover from punctured organs and shattered bones. In hindsight, Anji was thankful to him for telling her to stand behind him. That bowl would have reached her skull if Anji had been at the front.
Carefully weaving her energy threads through his meridians, Anji first stabilised the chaotic qi. Assistant Hu’s cultivation level was higher than hers, and his golden core was desperately trying to repair the damage. However, it was in disarray because of the blockages to the liver when the bowl hit him.
Prioritising the blocked meridian, Anji untangled it and quickly pushed her energy to the punctured places, assessing the damage. If the bone was not stuck in either organ, all Anji had to do was assist the body in natural cell regeneration. However, if the bone was still embedded into the organ, they had to operate on Assistant Hu to first remove it.
Mapping out the damaged area now that she had a little more time to assess the damage, Anji’s heart sank. Six pieces of the ribs were broken, and two were shattered. Although the big pieces were worrying, it was the shattered shards that had lodged themselves into the stomach and the spleen, creating small holes in the organs. Some of the shattered pieces were bigger than the size of Anji’s fingernail. If it were stuck in the stomach, it was not as worrying. Anji could patch the hole, and the stomach’s digestive juices would take care of the bones. However, the piece of bone the was stuck inside the spleen, causing it to rupture was very concerning. Anji might be skilled at medicine and controlling her qi movements. However, she was not powerful enough to move objects or change the shape of the environment using it.
Doing what she could, Anji quickly redirected Assistant Hu’s energy with hers to help it prioritise mending the holes in his stomach. However, she also kept an eye on the condition of his spleen. As of now, she could only contain the bleeding inside to minimise the damage.
"A-Anji! Doctor Yun is here!" Researcher Ke came back, breathless.
Not getting up, Anji could not speak. She was still doing her best to maintain the situation of her patient, but she nodded at Doctor Yun, who quickly took out his acupuncture needles to stop the blood flow towards the damaged areas. With the combined efforts of two doctors, Assistant Hu’s condition was finally stabilised. However, he was still not out of the woods.
"Researcher Ke went to find the senior researchers for help," Doctor Yun informed the child. "The assistants at the clinic are preparing medicine and sterilising the place. He needs an operation, doesn’t he?"
Grimly, Anji nodded and explained the situation she saw when assessing the damages. A ruptured spleen was tricky enough. When Doctor Yun heard there was a piece of bone embedded in the spleen, his face paled.
"How big is the bone?"
