Chapter 130: Special Dormitory
Everything in the Mystical Qilin Sect was strange. Other sects had a bigger outer court and a smaller inner court due to the thinning numbers of potential disciples worth grooming. However, the researchers did things differently. There were many researchers and librarians compared to apprentices. Not to mention, every research lab was as huge as a mansion.
"For safety reasons, every research lab must be at least a hundred meters away from each other," Pearl told Anji. "The last count we had was about three hundred and eighty research facilities scattered all around the mountain. That’s the reason why we have several libraries in the sect."
Additionally, Anji learned that the researchers did not like to go to the dormitory where they were assigned. Most people who were in the inner court usually slept and ate where they worked. Pearl was no exception. She would have her meals in the librarian’s common room and slept in the loft of the library or in between bookshelves that nobody frequented. Similarly, researchers slept in their cots in the lab or on the floor with a straw mattress beneath their desks.
"I wish they would use the desks for actual documentation and administration work," Pearl groaned. "When I was an administrative librarian, I had to work for a researcher who was in such a state of depression. He slept on the table. The floor was full of papers from five years ago. We could not see any part of the floorboard when we first started, and clearing out that pigsty lab is something I will never want to experience again."
Arriving at the Western library, Pearl introduced Anji to her home.
"Although you cannot enter the library, you can ask any librarian on duty to call for me. I work on the third floor."
Nodding, Anji promised to find her. Now that they were in the western court, Pearl took Anji around so she would be familiar with the area. As the Mystical Qilin Sect was too big and chaotic, the Western Court was chosen to become Anji’s babysitting district. It was the least chaotic place and the district closest to the Sect Leader’s special cabin.
"Unlike everyone else, you will be residing in a special dormitory. The other dormitories are too hazardous for a child, so the sect leader has specially informed us that you will be occupying her cabin. She is currently in seclusion and will not be using it. You can use everything there, but please keep it tidy for her when she returns."
Hm? The design of the cabin seemed familiar. It was quite a distance from everything else in the outer court but accessible to everyone in the inner court.
"Does Sect Leader Yan have someone to clean her cabin regularly?"
