He Teng remembered that the last time he was a groom, he had not been this nervous and expectant. Before, when he received a letter from his father telling him to submit the marriage report, and once he got leave, he immediately went home. Throughout the whole process, his mood was utterly flat, as if simply coming home to complete a routine task.
But this time around, even though he was older, his heart was more restless than ever before.
Hearing He Dongxue’s voice, He Teng quickly called out to her, asking, "Where’s your sister-in-law? Why is she not in sight?"
"Brother, why are you so anxious? Your sister-in-law isn’t going to run away. She’s back there with Dad!" He Dongxue teased He Teng, and Chen Xiting and the others couldn’t help but burst into laughter upon hearing this.
"The groom looks exceptionally handsome today! But, the bride is also exceptionally beautiful!" Chen Xiting winked at He Teng, then followed He Dongxue into the banquet hall.
He Teng stood at the entrance of the banquet hall and, it must be said, Chen Xiting’s words made him even more eager to see He Zhilan. He just stood at the entrance, peering out, and after much anticipation, finally caught sight of He Zhilan approaching, arm in arm with her father, from afar.
He Zhilan was draped in a red veil, and even though she was several meters away, she shone like a beacon, capturing He Teng’s attention.
He stared without even blinking, watching her approach with a smile as delicate as peach blossoms, step by step toward him.
He Teng had imagined more than once how beautiful He Zhilan would be in her red bridal gown, but all those imaginations paled in comparison to the real sight of her.
