Lin Chan gave her a bottle of perfume, which she placed on the bedside table. With a gentle press, the whole room was filled with a faint floral fragrance.
After tidying up and seeing the room full of her belongings, He Zhilan left her home satisfied to retrieve her four pots of plants from Chen Zheng’s house.
Having not seen them for a long time, the jasmine flowers had almost withered, but the mimosa was growing stronger. He Zhilan gently touched the leaves of the mimosa and laughed to herself, "You, oh you! Just like He Mutou, you only react when pushed into a corner!"
After resting for three days in the military, He Zhilan went back to work. Lin Jie had the capability to keep the translation agency busy with one job after another. Although He Teng hadn’t returned from his assignment, He Zhilan, like a little wife waiting for her husband to return home, still went to work from dawn till dusk every day; even Lin Jie couldn’t convince her to rest in the city.
It took He Teng another week to return. When he got back, it was already past four in the afternoon. Upon reaching home, He Teng didn’t even take time to close the door; his first action was to rush to He Zhilan’s room, worrying that her earlier assurances in Qiao City were just to placate him and that she would have moved out once back.
Seeing He Zhilan’s room empty made He Teng’s heart skip a beat. He then went to his own bedroom, pushed the door open, and, seeing it filled with He Zhilan’s belongings, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After strolling around the room, the usually stoic face of He Teng lit up with a big smile.
He Zhilan had moved her belongings into his room, and she had been sleeping there these past few days!
