Just as He Zhilan was wondering if she should change her approach, the door to her room sounded once again. Elated, she thought it was He Teng returning for the second time, so she quickly got up and hurried to the door. Upon opening the door and calling out, "Brother," she was surprised to discover that the person standing at the door wasn’t He Teng but Lan Li, who she disliked.
"Commander Lan, do you need something? Are you looking for my brother? He just delivered water to me and left." Lan Li had been promoted to the rank of Commander, hence, He Zhilan also adjusted her address accordingly. The two standing at the door, for whatever reasons, He Zhilan didn’t plan to invite Lan Li to sit inside.
Lan Li shook his head, "I just ran into him downstairs, I came to see you."
Seeing He Zhilan still not inviting him inside, Lan Li wasn’t surprised. He knew He Zhilan didn’t like him, just as he initially didn’t like her.
However, Lan Li had to admit, quite a lot had happened recently, which had gradually changed his perception of He Zhilan.
Thinking about what his mother had instructed him, Lan Li hesitated a bit, unsure of how to ask. After a long pause, he finally asked, "Which two characters make up ’Zhilan’ in your name?"
He Zhilan was slightly taken aback by this question from Lan Li.
A moment later, she shrugged her shoulders and answered with a jest, "Unfortunately, the ’Zhilan’ in my name is the same as in ’Gu Zhilan’. Why? Commander Lan, why do you suddenly care about my affairs?"
He Zhilan did not know why Lan Li suddenly came to ask how to write her name, nor did she know any reason why Lan Li might have learned something or discovered anything.
Regardless of whether or not Lan Li had discovered something, He Zhilan had no intention of reestablishing any connection with the Gu Family.
Initially, her firm decision had made her resolve that she would never look back in her life.
