He Zhilan didn’t say anything else to make Jiang Biyun worry unnecessarily. As they were about to enter the classroom building, they ran into Ya Dan and her husband.

"Ya Dan, what is this?" He Zhilan looked at the many bags in Ya Dan’s husband’s hand, her face showing confusion. "Isn’t this the start of the term? It looks like a holiday. Why didn’t you put your things in the dorm before coming here?"

"Isn’t this like a holiday?" Ya Dan responded, waving the paper in her hand and passing it to He Zhilan. "It’s my application for a leave of absence. I’m taking a year off. I came today to handle the procedures and take my things back home."

After saying this, Ya Dan gave an apologetic smile to Jiang Biyun and pulled He Zhilan several steps to the side. Then, she took He Zhilan’s hand and placed it on her belly. "Feel! There’s a little baby inside! I’m taking a gap year to have a baby. By this time next year, the baby will be old enough to have started weaning. I’ll leave him with my husband and my in-laws while I continue my studies!"

"Really?" He Zhilan was astonished. It seemed like everyone around her was pregnant recently, including Bian Xiulin and now Ya Dan. Seeing the joy of impending motherhood in Ya Dan’s face, He Zhilan genuinely rejoiced for her. "Congratulations! Make sure you send me a picture when your little one is born!"

"Of course!" Ya Dan nodded. "This child was unexpected, but, now that I’m pregnant, I don’t want to give up. So, I’ve decided to take a year off for the sake of this child after discussing with my family."

"By the time you come back to school, I’ll be your senior!" He Zhilan lightly teased. "But that’s okay, it won’t affect your studies."
