...stood at the door and didn’t go far. "What’s wrong? Is there something happening with my brother?"
"It’s nothing, don’t worry, it’s a private matter, it’s not related to your brother!" Bian Xiulin shook her head, then lowered her voice, "Um, do you have any spare sanitary pads I could use? My period arrived two days early, which I didn’t expect. I’ve asked a few female nurses, but none of them had any, so I came to try my luck here. If all else fails, I’ll have to ask Xing Ye to bring me a packet."
"Sanitary pad?" He Zhilan shook her head. "Or should I ask my two female classmates?"
"That works too!" Bian Xiulin nodded, she would only call Xing Ye as a last resort.
He Zhilan asked Bian Xiulin to wait for a bit and then returned to the ward. She asked her classmates, Jiang Biyun and Chen Xiting, and luckily, Chen Xiting had one in her bag. Only then did Chen Xiting follow He Zhilan out of the ward.
"Oh, it’s for you Dr. Bian? I thought He Zhilan needed it! Good timing, I was expecting my period in the next few days as well, so I carry some just in case. Is one enough?" As Chen Xiting spoke, she set down the small backpack she’d been carrying. She kept chatting with He Zhilan, "By the way, when was the last time you had your period, Zhilan? As far as I recall, you and Jiang Biyun should be around the same time, right?"
"One is enough, I’ll be off work in two hours! Gotta go! Thank you, Zhilan’s classmate!" Bian Xiulin took the item and, like a thief, quickly stashed it in her pocket and left.
Chen Xiting swore, her inquiry was merely a casual curiosity. Yet, as soon as Dr. Bian left, He Zhilan was left pondering about it.
