FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING

Chapter 31: THE MORNING OF A KING (2) (VARZIEL’S POV)

As he fastened the brooch, he glanced at his reflection in the mirror that stood next to the door. There was a faint silver glow over his features, which was a result of the runes on the attire he wore. His eyes were framed by his hair, which he combed back with his hands. If he had gotten out of bed earlier, he would have had enough time to get a servant to comb his hair more neatly, but as he had woken late, his own work on his hair would have to do.

Satisfied with his figure, he strode from the bathing chamber with silent footsteps. A few of his servants, with Velmoria in the lead, stood outside the doors waiting in case he needed something.

He never did, but they always waited.

"Dismissed." He waved them away, and only Velmoria and another lesser male demon remained.

"Here are your morning documents." The male demon, Shazirath, floated a few inches in the air due to his wings as they walked and handed him a pile of documents. Varziel took the light stack from him and a pen from Velmoria.

Demons who littered the hallway paused their tasks to lower their heads as the three passed, waiting until the king was long gone before raising them to continue with their tasks. Varziel did not pay them much heed as he flipped through the documents and signed where needed. He knew the corridors of his castle like the back of his hand and thus did not need to look up as he walked.

The air grew heavier with magic from enchantments and wards as he neared his office. The double doors to his office were already open, revealing Malrick, who waited inside. He stood opposite the desk, his long midnight blue hair tied at the nape of his neck with a ribbon. His serpentine eyes blinked twice before he inclined his head in a bow. "Your Majesty." He greeted.

"Malrick," Varziel walked to his chair behind the massive desk, which had been carved from a single slab of onyx. The surface of the desk had scattered papers littered all over it; the only person aware of what papers meant what being the king. He handed the already signed documents he had been carrying to Shazirath.

"Ensure you take this to the department of magic." He instructed before dismissing them.
