FALLEN ANGEL: MARRIED TO THE DEMON KING

Chapter 23: THE FIRST DANCE (2)

The demons did not hesitate to take huge gulps of their wines. She looked down at the wine, and lifted her goblet, sipping the liquid cautiously. It was sweet, with a slight burn and tang as it flowed down her throat. It also caused some sort of warmth to spread through her chest, a feeling similar to how sunlight felt when it burned.

She caught Varziel watching her, his eyes gleaming, "First drink of the demon realm, my angel," he remarked, "not bad I hope?"

She smirked, "I have had worse." King Varziel could hear the mischief in her voice, and he laughed. A deep resonant sound that drew the attention of those nearby. Arella felt like she was being pulled towards him.

She took her attention back to her wine, refusing to acknowledge the feeling that was bubbling inside her chest. To touch his cheek, and run a hand through his hair.

The celebrations continued, the demons obviously oblivious to the feelings Arella was having. She had only gotten halfway through her goblet when King Varziel stood. He stopped in front of her throne and extended his hand to her. "Dance with me."

Arella blinked, caught off guard by his offer, "I'm sorry. What? Dance? Here?" She raised a brow. It was not that Arella had not been taught how to dance; it was just that the dancing of the angel realm was vastly different from the one in the demon realm. Here, the female demons were seductive, and their dancing reflected that. In the angel realm, all angels were modest, and as such, their dancing reflected that.

"Yes. Here." His tone was firm.

Her hesitation was momentary as she looked into the eyes of the demon king. She had had a hard time simply holding onto his hand. Now, if they were to dance, they would be in closer proximity. Arella was not sure she would be able to stop herself from jumping him while they were dancing together.

Nevertheless, she knew she had to carry herself like the queen she now was. She slipped her hand into his, allowing him to guide her to the center of the courtyard, where the dances were taking place. The crowd of demons parted, creating a wide space for them.
