Claudia Blackwood had always known how to manipulate her way out of trouble. From the moment she could speak, she had learned that lies, when spoken with enough conviction, could become reality. It had worked for her before. It had worked on her father, on her mother, and even on Harlow. But today, something was different.
She was losing control.
For the first time, her tricks weren’t working. Gus and the other employees weren’t falling for her fabricated receipts and smooth-talking excuses. They weren’t intimidated by her threats.
They weren’t afraid of her at all.
Embezzling funds from her father’s company to pay her debt and blaming Harlow for it has been a norm for Claudia. And now, she thought she could still do the same with the Hamilton’s company.
She had no idea Gus or the other employees would keep an eye on her.
"But there is no proof of payment in our records and the customer is running out of patience. Are you sure you received the funds?" Gus asked again.
"Of course I did, why would I lie, this is proof. Maybe there’s a little issue with the bank which can be resolved later. But it would be a shame if you keep the customers waiting for long." Claudia said.
