The morning sun seeped into the room as Ava drew the curtains, its soft light illuminating her mistress’s peaceful, sleeping face. Harlow stretched her arms and legs, batting her lashes as her eyes slowly adjusted to the bright light.
"Rise and shine it’s a bright new day," Ava said excitedly. The servants haven’t stopped talking about their master’s kind gesture last night. Preparing all those delicious meals without the help of anyone was truly romantic.
"I can see that." Harlow pushed the cover from her body as she stepped out of bed. Her eyes instinctively moved around the space as if searching for someone. Someone who wasn’t in the room at the moment. She quickly frowned, cursing herself inwardly for even thinking about him.
"He’s not worth your time Harlow. It doesn’t matter if he confessed or not."
"Your bathwater is ready, Miss Harlow," Ava said with a sheepish smile, her eyes lingering on her young mistress. It had been so long since she last witnessed Miss Harlow and Master Alanis bickering. To her, this was a good sign. Even if Harlow refused to admit it, she had undoubtedly grown a soft spot for Alanis.
"Thank you," Harlow replied, taking her clothes off before stepping into the tub. She hurriedly sank into the warm water, letting out a soft sigh as the soothing heat wrapped around her body. Closing her eyes, she allowed herself to relax, the warmth sinking deep into her skin. It was pure bliss—one of the most comforting feelings she had experienced in a while.
