Maybe this is what Alex would want to...
If she remembers correctly, he wished they would be together. He always wished his father would come home to them. Harlow shook her head. This is not the thought of her son or her other children she had lost because of this man.
This was her selfish thinking. She would never give Alanis another chance again. Not in this life or the next. He does not deserve it.
"You flatter me, Mr Hamilton." She laughed and a tear rolled down the corner of her eyes. Alanis wanted to wipe them away, but he knew he couldn’t. It’s clear she was hurting. He could only imagine the amount of pain he put her through. All through her life, all she’s known was pain and sorrow.
"Love?" She laughed. "You know nothing about love?"
"I don’t need your love. I’m not interested in that." She picked the the big book on the couch and walked away with the painting still in her other hand.
Alanis didn’t follow her, he couldn’t. He just watched her retreating figure climb the stairs. He didn’t know what to make of this whole situation. His wife hates him more than she hates the devil.
