Emily gazed into Raylen’s blue eyes, which resembled the ice she had attempted to slip away from earlier on the lake. However, with his words and actions, this ice was far more slippery, and her heart raced faster than it usually did. In her mind, she whispered, ’Idiot. Who does that?’
Her eyes lowered from his to look down at her cold chain, which was now less icy to the touch than when she had taken it from him.
"You should go change your clothes," Emily uttered, her eyes refusing to rise to meet his, as she could feel his intense gaze upon her. They were drawing the attention of the onlookers, and she wanted to escape, yet at the same time, she found herself unable to do so.
Raylen raised his hand, and with one snap of his fingers, steam emanated from around him, swiftly drying his clothes. He remarked, "Seems like your mind is preoccupied, making you forget that it was I who dried your clothes previously."
"I should go see where Mother is. In case she needs me," Emily stated, her gaze briefly meeting his before she turned away and quickly departed from the lakeside. She raised her hand to touch her warm cheek as she went.
And although Emily mentioned her mother as a reason to escape, she didn’t actually go to find her. Instead, she walked to a secluded area where the trees offered solitude, eventually coming to a stop to gather her thoughts.
