Chapter 124 – Our Wife
As Alex rose to a sitting position, he felt a weight on his thighs, regretting answering the call. Joanna’s head lay peacefully on his right thigh, and he was amazed.
The pillows that had divided them were nowhere to be found, scattered on the floor.
On the small bed in the cabin, they would hold each other and sleep peacefully, yet this time she had created a distance between them. It was ironic considering she had claimed not to want any bodily contact between them.
In his pajamas, Alex walked to the bathroom and closed the door before responding to the call.
"Logan, what is wrong with you?" he tried to contain his fury, but Logan seemed to revel in it.
While Alex was on his honeymoon, Logan had been scheming, and a roar of laughter sounded from the other end of the line.
"I guess you were trying to distance yourself from our wife so she wouldn’t know you are indeed Salvador," Logan taunted, causing Alex to inhale deeply. It seemed that what he had heard the first time was correct.
If only Logan were not of the same blood as him, things might have been different. If you were half the gentleman I am, you would know how rude it is to receive a call next to a sleeping woman," Alex retorted, debunking Logan’s suspicion.
"And if you dare refer to my wife as ’ours’ again, you won’t live to tell the tale," he warned sternly.
