Chapter 157: Aren’t You Cold?
In the backyard, Chi Junheng heard his wife calling him and walked out. When Duan Yixin and Chi Xiyou walked into the front yard, Chi Xinru also walked out of her bedroom. She was relieved to see that her best friend was alright.
Chi Xinru smiled at Duan Yixin and said, "Xin Xin, come in quickly."
Duan Yixin nodded, put away the oil-paper umbrella, and stepped into the house. While Chi Xiyou handed the heavy bamboo basket to his father, he said, "Father, I will go to Xin Xin’s house to move some plants."
Chi Junheng took the bamboo basket and said, "Be careful and come back as soon as possible. The village chief just came and said the situation is getting worse. We may need to go out and help them reinforce the river banks or evacuate victims."
Chi Xiyou nodded to his father, then looked at his Mother and said, "Mother, Xin Xin made a lot of steamed buns and pancakes today. She was concerned that the flour would mold in the now humid temperatures, so she turned them into dry foods. I think we should do the same thing before our flour goes bad."
Madam Chi agreed to her son’s suggestion and said, "All right, Mother will do as you say. Come back quickly and pay attention to safety."
Knowing that his Mother was worried about him, Chi Xiyou smiled and said, "I know. I will be back in a moment."
After saying that, Chi Xiyou put the straw raincoat covering Duan Yixin’s bamboo basket on his body and left in a hurry. Watching her son running into the rain, Madam Chi held her hands tightly.
Chi Junheng stood beside her, held her hands, and gently said, "Don’t worry. Dalang can protect himself."
