Chapter 54: Mysterious Person (1)
Ten minutes later, Duan Yixin was lying on the straw bed wearing a new set of clothes. She took an energy bar from the warehouse and had it as her dinner. The moment she closed her eyes, she fell asleep.
Minutes after she fell asleep, a man dressed in black and wearing a black mask covering his eyes and half of his face appeared on the roof of her house. When the soles of his feet landed on the straw roof, he jumped down immediately before the roof broke.
The man stood there for a while and was relieved to see that no one noticed the sound he had just made.
He looked at Duan Yixin’s dilapidated thatched house and thought to himself, ’How brave this young lady is to sleep in such a house. No wonder the commander wanted to investigate her. She is indeed not simple.’
After thinking about it for a few seconds, he decided to investigate the front yard and the house first.
Two minutes later, he looked into Duan Yixin’s bedroom through the open window and saw her sleeping soundly. To ensure that she would not wake up until morning, the man took out a small bamboo tube, blew the contents into the bedroom, and then carefully closed the window for her.
After checking the front yard and the house, the man went to the backyard. Seeing the herbs drying racks in the backyard, he walked over. When his eyes fell on the medicinal herbs on the drying racks, he curiously picked one and smelled it.
Smelling the herbs’ refreshing fragrance, he muttered in awe, "This plant smells so good. Its scent actually can relieve my fatigue."
The man thought for a few seconds and took out a small leather pouch from his body. He opened the leather pouch and carefully put a few leaves of wild mint plants into it. After closing the leather pouch, he carefully put it away.
After checking the herbs drying racks one by one and collecting some samples of each medicinal herb, the man looked at the only building in the backyard. He approached the woodshed and opened the door.
Entering the small woodshed, the man paused. He curiously looked at the shelves made from wooden buckets filled with soil mixed with white pebbles.
He grabbed some soil, took out a small bamboo tube, and filled it with the mixed soil. After putting away the small bamboo tube, he turned around and saw two wooden barrels in the corner of the woodshed.
