Mikey couldn't see a damn thing.
The suffocating darkness of the game menu consumed everything. It was disorienting—though he'd grown somewhat accustomed to it—but before panic could set in...
A blue glow flickered before him.
[Ding!]
[Mission Completed.]
A system notification hovered in the void, its familiar, bold text bringing a wave of relief. And then, another notification followed immediately after.
[Reward will now be distributed to player.]
Mikey blinked.
'Noice.'
As much as he would have liked to receive the gift, what he truly wanted was to spend more time with Melissa after his first successful normal-difficulty mission. But oh well, at least he was getting what mattered most.
Once more, another system execution message appeared.
