Chapter 189
The moment Kael landed in the middle of the enemy group, chaos broke loose.
Five guards rushed at him from different angles. One came swinging an axe, another jabbed with a spear, while the rest surrounded him with short swords and rifles aimed. Kael didn't hesitate.
He spun to his right, ducking under the swinging axe, and slashed upward—his blade tore through the man's chest with ease, blood spraying in an arc that painted the snow red. The body fell with a heavy thud.
The spear came next, thrusting straight at his ribs. Kael sidestepped, grabbed the shaft, and yanked the guard forward. As the man stumbled, Kael rammed his knee into the man's face, breaking his nose. He then brought his sword down on the man's neck, slicing halfway through. The guard twitched, gurgling on his blood, then collapsed.
Another guard screamed and slashed at Kael's back. Kael twisted mid-step, using the dead body like a shield. The blade sank into flesh, but not his. Kael pushed the corpse forward, crashing it into the attacker's face, then followed with a horizontal slash that cleaved the man across the torso. Blood splashed out in waves, warm and thick, soaking Kael's boots.
"Monster! He's killing everyone!" one shouted and backed away, trying to shoot. But Kael was already there, moving like a blur, his sword glowing with an aura. He brought it down in a diagonal arc. The man's head flew off cleanly, spinning in the air before landing in the snow.
In the midst, two riflemen pulled out a crossbow and fired.
A volley of arrows flew toward him from a ridge. Kael dashed sideways, snow spraying under his feet. He was only able to react due to the slicing whistling sound.
One arrow grazed his arm, drawing blood.
"Are these guys idiots? Just because the Queen ordered them to shoot the rifleman, you just stuck on them."Kael cursed the Ice Elves while gritting his teeth, then pointed his sword and sent out a sharp wave of energy.
It sliced through the air and into the ridge, cutting down two archers. They screamed, tumbling down with blood trailing behind them like ribbons.
Two more charged him, swords raised and shouting war cries. One went low, swinging for his legs, while the other tried to stab his gut.
