Chapter 76:Time to Go Haywire
The room fell into dead silence.
Baron Altross’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. His mind raced, but no answer came. Across from him, the shadow figure was just as stunned, its dark form flickering slightly in disbelief.
Altross’s instincts screamed at him of possible danger. He pushed back his chair and stood abruptly.
"You... How did you get in here?" His voice was strained, his hands twitching. "No—more than that, how did you find the secret passage?"
Kael grinned, his fingers tapping the hilt of his sword. "Do I really need to explain?" He tilted his head, his tone playful. Then his gaze flicked to the shadow, and his grin widened.
"You... You reek of something rotten." Kael stepped closer, his eyes gleaming with madness. "Which Lord do you worship, huh? Some filthy thing hiding in the dark?"
The shadow chuckled, standing tall. "You are not worthy enough to know the name of the God we praise."
Then, turning to Baron Altross, it spoke coldly. "There is an emergency. I must act now."
Before Altross could react, the shadow vanished into thin air.
The Baron’s face twisted in anger as he turned to Kael. His fingers clenched around the hilt of his sword. His patience had run out.
"You just had to poke your nose where it doesn’t belong, didn’t you?" Altross growled. His lips curled into a sneer. "But this... this is good."
