Chapter 118: I suppose I’ll be the fool holding the flame
The glowing panels hovered in my vision—[Status] and [Inventory]—but I ignored them, my focus locked onto the cryptic message of the hidden scenario instead.
My fingers tapped restlessly against the desk as I reread the title and the description:
"A Bloom Beneath the Ashes - A Light in the Abyss."
"Even in the bleakest void, a single act of defiance can spark a pulse—a fragile hope to a soul long forgotten..."
The words etched themselves into my mind, digging in deeper the more I read.
A light in the abyss...?
I leaned back in the chair slowly, the springs creaking beneath me as I exhaled.
So, apparently, something I did lit a spark for someone. Someone who had no hope. No light left.
...Who?
The question itched like a splinter in my thoughts.
Could it be someone from the orphanage? Maybe one of the older kids? No, they were already hopeful in their own way—resilient, even if life was hard. A customer from the shop? Unlikely. Most were regulars, and none seemed particularly "lost." And I didn’t exactly know one that well too.
