Chapter 316: BAIT
EVEREST POV
It was approximately two weeks since Maurice Isla called Keith and we had arrested Alistar. The man was so tightlipped and we got nothing from him. Lovita and Aurora enforced the magic wards in the KODA council jail giving Alistar no room for escape.
There was no feedback on Maurice and we needed to close this case. Why? Because everyone was already tensed up around the pack and I had promised to take Levy on holiday.
And more sore, Hunter and I found the hideout that Maurice was in. He had moved from the top of the mountain and had settled in a cave by the Northeast of the Northern border. We had been hunting him since Alistar was arrested and Judy, the pack assistant and enforcer spilled the beans about where they had met with Alistar.
Suddenly the air around me sizzled with familiarity and I realized that Levy had followed me. He must have gotten tired of me evading him and he was too smart. How could he not realize that danger lurked and I had spotted Maurice Isla by the river as he had just shifted into a dark serpent and got into the water?
Maurice was taunting me and I snickered since I knew he was playing a game of cat and mouse. I needed to lure Levy away from him without causing an alarm.
I walked to the trees and then moved to a meadow and a cave that was hidden by the trees. I stood in waiting as Levy arrived and spotted the hunter as his eyes cursed at me by the woods. I pretended to survey the area knowing well that Maurice was watching me from the river and I bet that he was surprised that Levy was here.
I moved to the front of the house and snickered " You have some nerve following me Levy Isla ’’ I purposely said his name out loud.
He appeared in front of me and I moved to pin him on the wall of the house.
