Chapter 109: REMORSE AND COMFORT
Everest POV
Two days later we buried Pa. I stood at the sea as we threw his ashes by the pier. All the pack members were present at the funeral, but the displeased look on Lobo Aria’s face was evident.
Once the funeral was done, we all went to Benjamin’s pub for a meal. Surprisingly, Lobo Aria, Hunter, Keith, Jaxton, and Boris followed us to the pub. I felt sorry for Hunter and could tell it took all the will for him to pretend around Lobo Aria.
I heard the knuckles of Anisha’s hand as she closed them into a fist and the low growl that came from Zeeb. Everest placed an arm on my thigh and the only calm ones were Conri, Lucian, and Elder Zaya. Even Luna’s eyes blazed at Lobo, but he pretended not to notice. We all watched as Tala stood up and walked over to Lobo Aria’s table and said, "Alpha, since when do you have dealings with the Japanese ?"
"I have no idea what you are talking about. Or did Hunter tell you something?" Lobo’s eyes growled at Hunter, who looked bored as he sipped his beer" There was pin-drop silence in the bar as everyone listened in.
" Why would I talk to your mutt?" Tala chuckled. "Let me bring you up to speed Alpha since your goons have not yet briefed you. You see, something happened the day Ralph Isla died. The Japanese tried to kidnap me and ended up with Anisha "Tala narrated while she leaned on the pillar next to their table as Lobo Aria’s eyes blazed with every word.
The silence in the room was enough to cut through a knife.
But Tala was determined, and she continued to say, "Do you know who was with the Japanese in the boat? Boris Carter, Ralph Isla, Keith Isla, and Jaxton Carter."
Alpha Lobo turned to Boris Carter as we watched his handshake while he sipped his beer. Keith and Jaxton all looked scared. Only the hunter looked unaffected.
"Do you have evidence of your accusations?" Lobo Aria demanded.
"I bet you dont know that your sister Zineb is in town too. She was on the boat too, " Tala smirked.
