Chapter 102: NEWS FROM JAPAN
HUNTER’S POV
I leaned back on the tree and pretended to be asleep as the enforcers who had been sent by Lobo arrived. I opened one eye and demanded, "Why are you following me?"
"Alpha was worried that you had a tail," they said as they looked around the campfire.
"Tail? I already scented you coming, no one can tail me. " I stood up and said " Go back to Alpha Lobo and report what you found," I said arrogantly and left the campsite straight for the Chugach prison. I arrived at the caves by midday and found the guards who were on duty more alert than ever. I knew that Lobo Aria was paranoid and the way I spoke to him yesterday, he must have suspected that I was angry at him.
The truth was that Lyal was a screwed-up being and his ideas to Lobo Aria were in the extremities. Letting Duciana die was a mistake, and I was taken back to the day Lupe died. They had made the same plan because they wanted to suppress Conri Dolf, but he had eluded them for the second time.
I was left to clean up the mess of Duciana and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially now that Tala came to me and acknowledged that we were mates. Holding her in my arms had been heavenly.
Kissing Tala has been euphoric. I was lost in the sea of passion, need, and comfort and when she broke down into sobs, Hemming my wolf swore he would go against anyone who made her cry. A vow that he meant to keep.
I watched Tala fall asleep and breathed in her scent. Before the enforcers arrived, I used my Alpha powers to cover her scent around the campfire. Lobo Aria was no fool, and he must have discovered that Tala was my mate.
I panicked as she left the campsite and then used my power wolf power to follow her scent until she got out of the woods. Once I knew she was safe, I dragged myself into the mountain caves and shifted, remaining to hide for the night as my wolf recovered from the exhaustion of power.
I went for the morning run, letting Hemming’s power be restored, and then took a cold dip in Mount Chugach River before walking back to the jail. Along the way, I met an old guard who froze the minute he saw me.
