Chapter 75: A Promise to Keep and a Date to Remember
The Magic King of the Grand Kingdom Solara, Salvador von Solara, refused my request to take Nyssa with me. He declared that Nyssa was one of the key figures behind the chaos at the Solara Magic Academy.
I could only watch as Nyssa stood there, surrounded by guards, helpless and resigned. Her tearful gaze met mine, and my heart ached.
Instructor Morgan’s final words echoed in my mind—entrusting his daughter, Nyssa, to my protection. I couldn’t ignore the plea of a father who loved his daughter dearly. Clenching my fists, I steeled my resolve. I had to negotiate with Salvador.
"Your Majesty, I understand why you’ve made this decision, but please allow me to explain my perspective as the one who defeated Norx." I bowed deeply, appealing to Salvador’s mercy.
"...Very well. I will hear you out," Salvador replied.
"Your Majesty, Nyssa and her father, Instructor Morgan, were victims. They were pawns in the schemes of the demons. When she was just a child, Norx planted a seed of his consciousness within her, allowing him to possess her body when the time came. He used this to threaten her father into kidnapping people and harvesting their mana." I explained carefully, watching Salvador’s expression.
"Norx sought to break the Demon King’s seal. This was but one part of a larger demonic plan, and none of it was of Nyssa’s own will. She was powerless to resist Norx. While Instructor Morgan’s actions were wrong, his only desire was to save his daughter. Nyssa was merely a child forced into committing these crimes."
Salvador’s serious gaze pierced through me as I spoke.
"Therefore, I humbly plead with you, Salvador von Solara, Magic King of the Grand Kingdom Solara. Please allow me to take Nyssa with me." My voice was firm and resolute.
Salvador fell silent, his expression thoughtful. Perhaps my words weren’t enough to convince him.
"I understand your argument," Salvador finally said. "However, the law is the law. This kingdom condemns demons, demon worshippers, and anyone associated with them. The penalty is absolute—death. Furthermore, we cannot guarantee that Nyssa won’t turn into a demon again in the future."
