“Welcome one and all, to the ever anticipated Warden Cup!” Will exclaims, his voice echoing throughout the stadium. “I’m your host, Will! The Black Knight of Humanity! And I hope you all have been looking forward to this tournament as much as I have, because we have a special surprise for everyone here!”

A surprise?

I purse my lips while tapping my finger on the throne. But I don’t get to think much on it before one hundred thousand students all appear at once in the arena.

“We’re going to have a very special gimmick for this Warden Cup,” Will continues speaking, bringing my attention back to him for a moment before I glance back down at the students to find Aria in just a second. “This Warden Cup will have a dungeon style to it!”

My gaze raises back from Aria at his words as a faint smile spreads across my face.

A dungeon style? Like dungeon crawling video games or something?

That actually sounds pretty interesting to see.

“The goal will be simple,” Will says while flying around above the students. “The winner of the Warden Cup will either be the first student to clear the dungeon, or the student who makes it the furthest in the dungeon. Because, and I’ll be honest, I highly doubt any of these students are capable of taking on this dungeon’s boss alone!”

Very interesting. I lean my cheek against my fist as I rest my arm on the armrest of my throne.

“And, again, this Warden Cup will have a very special gimmick to it! But I won’t be telling you what that gimmick will be!” Will says, clearly teasing everyone as the audience jokingly boos him. “Don’t worry! There aren’t any secret rules the students will have to follow, so it’s alllll good!”

Now laughter echoes through the stadium instead.

“This dungeon will be one hundred floors tall and in the form of a tower, with the final boss being at the end of the one hundredth floor,” Will continues with a grin on his face. “Of course, since our little competitors are just students, we have limited the monsters in the dungeon to just Classes I through IV, with the boss being Class V. But the boss is also heavily handicapped to make it possible for the students to beat the boss as a group! And should the students actually manage to beat the boss as a group, then the one who contributed the most will be declared the victor of the Warden’s Cup!”

He’s really laying it on thick with how powerful this final boss is supposed to be.

And that’s not even considering the sheer fact that it’s Class V. Considering that the strongest amongst the students are just Class IV.

Even if it’s got restrictions, the final boss is going to be a major pain for them to fight.

It’s a good thing these students are all in the artificial reality. So even if they die here, they’ll just be brought back in the artificial reality.

“There is one little caveat though,” Will suddenly adds, making me roll my eyes at his quite literally teasing the audience. “One way for the students to win without being the furthest in the tower by the end of our lovely week-long Warden’s Cup! And do you know what that way is?!”

Everyone in the audience starts openly shouting at him to just say it already. Which I still find amusing since they never would’ve had the guts to say that years ago.

“Killing monsters!!!” Will says, totally shocking everyone with news that was honestly kinda predictable. “Of course, we have our beloved Wolf of the Blood Moon to thank for the creation of these monsters.” ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by N0velFire.ɴet

So that’s why he wanted me to create a bunch of creatures based on video game monsters…

All gazes in the entire stadium turn towards me, so I just give a light nod before Will continues again, “Now, onto the more nitty gritty parts! All the students will be randomly scattered through the dungeon where they will only be able to meet in certain gathering spots between each floors! The students will then be able to either team up with each other or fight each other to steal each other’s points! If the students team up, then they’ll be able to travel through the dungeon together after that!”

Hmm. So they’re promoting teamwork while also rewarding the solo fighters who don’t want to work together.

If a student wants to win the race, then it’s best to work with a team. But if they want to win with points or just not work with others, then killing other students is the best way to do that.

Stealing their points.

This will be interesting to watch.

“Now, let’s get this Cup started!!!” Will shouts before snapping his fingers, making all of the students vanish without any form of introduction. Not that anyone would be willing to listen to an introduction of a hundred thousand different names anyway.

After they vanish, screens begin appearing all over the stadium. And when someone focuses on a screen, the screen itself makes a duplicate and appears in front of you to watch.

Meanwhile there is one massive screen at the top of the stadium that is shown in all directions.

No doubt the screen Will has set as the main screen for him to commentate on.

Without hesitation, I look for a moment before finding Aria’s screen. Then I pull her screen over to me to find her already beginning to move through the first floor of a labyrinth style dungeon with stone brick, mossy walls.

And it only takes her a few seconds of travel to find the first monster.

A Class I zombie monster I created.

I can’t help but feel a little excited as I watch Aria slaughter the zombie with ease. Simply because my creations are pretty much being used in a game.

And that alone is worth the time I spent making those monsters for Will.

Not that it took long to do in the first place.

Anyway, I still can’t help but wonder what that final boss is.

Because something tells me I’m going to be surprised by it.
