Chapter 214: Sign of Hope
After almost three years of Xzan and Dante’s deaths, life in the United Tribes is peaceful for its people, but hard for Astri’s family. Yuki is twelve years old, and she’s becoming a beautiful female, already calling the attention of several males, but none dare to come near her because of her fathers, brothers, and also because having a spouse is the last thing she wants to think about.
The age to look after spouses is 18 years old, even though many females end up starting to look after spouses at 13 or 14 years old. Yuki only cares about taking care of Atlas, Albus, and Aurora, who are only 6 and 7 years old. She teaches them things she remembers that her mother used to teach. Hopin was 9 years old when Astri’s soul was broken, and now he’s 17 years old.
Hopin is the leader of his brothers, taking most responsibilities of chores and also teaching Albus and Atlas to protect themselves. Hopin became a beastman that others would never imagine he would. At only 17 years old, he already has four marks, not to mention that he’s a Rabbit.
Elias and Kai are also seen as the strongest of their age, because with only 12 years old they have two marks. Normally, males start getting marks at 16, but at a very young age, they have marks that even adults still have. Skalven and Galion trained them a lot, by their own requests, and that’s why they became strong faster, too.
Elias is the one who looks like Wayde the most, and Kai has the smile of his mother. Elias likes to tie part of his hair in a bun, and Kai lets it free. Both have light silver hair like their father, and the length is just under their shoulders. Hopin’s light gray hair is also longer, and he ties it in a ponytail.
Yuki’s hair is long, and she dresses like her mother used to dress, perpetuating the idea that her body will only be seen in cases of emergencies or by her spouses in the future. Aurora also has long hair, but red like Lee’s, and also dresses like her mother. Albus is tall for his age, but also has more energy than the others. He has his hair cut short because he had a hard time keeping it brushed and out of his face, and he dresses like his father, Lee. Atlas dresses like his father, and his hair is also long.
Atlas started to learn his powers with his father, Claud, when he was 5 years old, because he wanted to help his fathers somehow. When he started to understand that only he, Claud, and Kangki could have powers similar to his mother’s made him want to learn and try to help. However, he also can’t find his mother’s energy, and it can be very frustrating for him sometimes.
After one more day of not finding his mother’s energy, Atlas goes to the children’s bedroom. It is where he and all his brothers and sisters stay. He throws himself on the bed, frustrated and tired.
Yuki could sense that he didn’t have success again, and went to sit on his side. Atlas puts his arm over his eyes and stays quiet.
"Don’t pressure yourself, Atlas. Father Claud has hundreds of years of experience, and it’s hard for him. Father Kangki has thousands of years, and it’s hard for him." Yuki says.
"I know... I just want my mother back.. I was young when her soul was broken, but I slightly remember we lived happily.." Atlas says, without removing his arm from his face.
