Chapter 51: Unhealed Wounds
"Why did she ask you to paint her?" She asked.
Caden clicked his tongue. "Do you believe this nonsense?"
Alira stared at Caden. "I don’t think Elijah is lying. And besides, look at the portraits, Caden. You saw Mireya in your dreams. That’s the reason you were able to describe her when you asked someone to paint her. I know she looked exactly like Elijah’s paintings."
Caden took a deep breath. "So, what did my sister ask you to do?"
Elijah tilted his head up and stared into Caden’s eyes.
"She asked me to paint her when she’s sad, when she’s smiling, and every reaction her face makes. She wanted you to at least see her even in just a portrait." Elijah explained.
She saw Caden slightly bite his lip. Then turned his back away from Elijah. He looked around the room, staring at his sister’s portrait.
"Mireya is worried about you. She will always tell me that she’s here to protect you." Elijah continued.
Caden raised his hand and touched one of the paintings. "Is she here right now?"
Elijah nodded. "Yes."
Her heart pounded. Everyone looked shocked and was turning their gaze around the room, searching for the dead girl.
"She wouldn’t harm anyone. And I’m the only one who could see her." Elijah commented.
