Chapter 136: The charity gala (Part – 1)
The day of the charity gala...
The evening sky was a deep, velvety blue, studded with stars that twinkled above the stately estate. The grand entrance to the mayor’s mansion was a breathtaking sight.
The mansion itself was an imposing structure, its elegant architecture illuminated by dozens of strategically placed lights that cast a warm, golden glow across the sprawling lawns and meticulously manicured gardens.
A red carpet had been rolled out from the circular driveway to the grand front doors, lined with tall, flickering torches that lent an air of old-world grandeur to the event. Guests in elegant evening attire were making their way up the steps, greeted by well-dressed attendants who opened the massive, ornately carved doors, revealing the opulent interior beyond.
Willow and Bella stepped out of their car, the sound of gravel crunching beneath their heels as they moved onto the carpet. Willow, with her sleek auburn hair and sophisticated grace, wore a deep emerald gown that hugged her figure, the color bringing out the rich tones in her hair and eyes. The dress shimmered slightly as she moved, catching the light and drawing admiring glances from those nearby.
Beside her, Bella was equally stunning in a midnight blue gown that swept the ground as she walked. The fabric of her dress was soft and flowing, cinched at the waist with a delicate, jeweled belt that sparkled under the lights. Her golden hair was styled in loose waves, framing her face and highlighting her serene beauty.
Bella took a shaky breath, the nervous energy within her almost palpable. This was her first time attending such a gathering, and uncertainty gnawed at her.
Sensing her unease, Willow gently clasped her hand. "It’s okay," she whispered reassuringly. "I’m right here."
Bella glanced at Willow, managing a small smile as she tried to steady herself. But as she crossed the threshold into the grand mansion, her legs betrayed her, trembling slightly. The muted hum of conversations, punctuated by bursts of laughter and the delicate clink of glasses, welcomed them.
Her breath caught as she took in the opulence surrounding her. The mansion was a masterpiece of luxury, with a crystal chandelier hanging overhead, its countless facets catching the light and scattering it in a dazzling display of rainbows across the room.
