Chapter 1016: Duty Leader
Ji Tiande stumbled his way to the town government, arriving at two in the morning.
Anxiously, he knocked on the door of the government guard office.
The staff on duty, looking displeased, opened the window of the duty room to ask him.
"You’re here to get things done, aren’t you? You’ll have to wait until daylight to take care of business. There’s no one in the office building right now. You might as well find a place to stay overnight. Come back when it’s daylight." He yawned and was ready to close the window.
Ji Tiande got anxious, blocking the window with his hand.
The guard, seeing his action, instantly took a cautious step back and picked up a stick from beside the table.
"What are you trying to do? I’m telling you, this is a state government facility. If you’re thinking of robbery or anything, you’d better leave early. Otherwise, I’ll immediately turn you over to the police station."
It’s no wonder the guard was suspicious of Ji Tiande’s actions; after traveling all night, Ji Tiande’s face mixed with sweat and dust formed ravines on his face, his hair soaked into strands by sweat. Anyone who saw him would think a beggar had rushed over from somewhere.
Ji Tiande realized his appearance caused alarm, hurriedly withdrew his hand and bowed to the guard inside.
"Comrade, comrade, I am Ji Tiande, the security director from Ji Village. I’m here to report an urgent situation. It’s truly very urgent."
The earnest attitude and anxious gaze made the guard gradually ease up.
"How urgent can it be? Is there a fight in your village or has someone died? Even if there’s a fight and death, such matters are for the police station. What use is it to seek the town government? Besides, look at the time, it’s two or three in the morning, where do you expect me to find someone for you."
