Chapter 595: Who Did You Say is Unwanted?
They were all from the same village, and he had never heard about Guo Jinnian getting married.
Tong Yao guessed that the man had just returned from outside the village and probably did not know about Guo Jinnian. She then helped to explain: "She’s not married yet, we have just come to propose today."
The man was taken aback, scrutinized Tong Yao closely, and queried: "Aren’t you from Kyoto? Is Jinnian getting married and moving to Kyoto?"
Even before Tong Yao could answer, a woman nearby who appeared to be his wife, glared at him and yelled: "Why do you care where she’s moving to? As long as she’s not marrying you, it’s none of your business. Go home."
The man turned red from being scolded by the woman. He glanced at Guo Jinnian and didn’t say a word, but lowered his head and pushed his bike into the village. When he was a few meters away, he took another glance back but was smacked ruthlessly on the back of his head by his wife who continued grumbling while they headed home.
Tong Yao watched the man and his family leave and then curiously asked Guo Jinnian, "Who was that? It seemed like his wife really had a problem with you."
Guo Jinnian stuck out her tongue in embarrassment and explained: "He’s the one I told you about who said I wouldn’t be able to get married after growing up. When I was younger, I used to play around following him. We haven’t been hanging out much since we grew up. When I was seventeen, his family hired a matchmaker to propose, I didn’t agree. At twenty, they tried again, but I still didn’t agree. Then I’ve been out doing business, heard last year he got married. The woman with him earlier presumably is his wife and kid."
Tong Yao was startled, "He just got married last year? That child already looks three or four years old. How can you have such an old child if you marry last year?"
