Si Chen was busy in the kitchen, while Tong Yao and Guo Jinnian were enjoying themselves in the living room. After each of them had a small piece of cake, they didn’t eat any more as sweets could easily become too rich.

Guo Jinnian glanced at Si Chen in the kitchen and whispered, "Dr. Si is really talented, he even knows how to cook. I can’t stand seeing such perfect men. Whenever I see men like this, I can’t help but start complaining about my own man."

Tong Yao laughed, "If your dad heard that, he would probably be ready to hit you again."

Guo Jinnian didn’t mind, "It’s not easy for my dad to hit me now. If it was, he would have done it so many times by now. Every time he sees me, he wants money from me. I moved out from home because of an argument with him. As for that house, I really want to leave it all behind."

Tong Yao casually advised, "You don’t have a duty to support your younger siblings, they are all adults now. Let them fend for themselves. As for your parents, just provide them with some living expenses once they reach the legal retirement age. You need not be overly kind, just fulfill your basic obligations."

Guo Jinnian nodded, "Exactly my thoughts now. I was naive before, giving all the money I earned to my family. I won’t do that again, I need to think about my own interests, too."

While she said this, she daydreamed, "Perhaps I will also find a Prince Charming. Then I could bring a decent dowry to increase my worth."

Tong Yao laughed at her joke. After they horsed around for a while, Tong Yao got up and went to the kitchen, just in time to see Si Chen rolling up his sleeves and cutting a cucumber. Seeing her step in, he cut off a small piece and fed it to her.

In a light voice, he said, "Go back and sit in the living room. The food will be ready soon. The kitchen smells quite strongly of oil and smoke."

Tong Yao shook her head, "I just wanted to see what dishes you are making, I’ll leave in a moment."
