Chapter 29 Zhao Lao
When Si Chen returned home, Tong Yao was sitting on the bed reading medical books. Being alone at home bored her, so she picked up a few medical books that were laying around. They contained a lot of information about emergency care, and Tong Yao was fascinated by it. She only realized she had been reading for over half an hour when Si Chen walked in.
What surprised Tong Yao even more was that Si Chen had read all these medical books, and had even taken notes on some of them.
"Do you like to read?" Si Chen closed the door casually as he walked into the room, asking softly, "There are a few more books in the office. If you like reading, I can bring them home for you tomorrow."
"Sure!" Tong Yao agreed readily. She had nothing much to do without any TV, and reading could help increase her knowledge.
Si Chen’s gaze fell on her still damp hair, "Have you showered?"
Tong Yao, sensing the underlying meaning in his question, glanced at the dirty clothes in the basin and admitted somewhat awkwardly: "My arm is still hurting a bit, so you’ll have to help me wash my clothes for a couple more days. Once my arm feels better, I’ll do it myself."
Even with a thick skin, Tong Yao felt somewhat embarrassed to keep on asking him to wash her clothes. After all, he worked all day and got tired, and while they might be married in name, they weren’t really a couple, and he had no obligation to do such things for her.
Seeing her misunderstanding, Si Chen didn’t explain further, but said lightly, "Your hair is long, and if you keep it wet for too long while using a fan, you could get a headache. We should buy a hairdryer tomorrow."
Tong Yao thought: Here he goes again, asking her to spend more money?
Was he really so generous, or was he trying to make her look like a spendthrift, ruining her reputation and forcing her to leave out of shame?
