Shuangshuang picked them up and smelled them closely, the aroma wasn’t as pungent as ginger; biting a piece, the flesh was crunchy, lacking any spicy flavor.
It should be galangal, whose flavor is mild and unsuitable as a seasoning, but it makes excellent pickles. Pickled galangal is crisp and quite refreshing.
