Beyond the Apocalypse

Chapter 419: The condition of the continents (II)

According to the data that Vlad managed to collect, the Elite Leviathans were around Level 15 warriors with a Champion Life Level. In the grand scheme of things, they were much weaker than the Special Unit Leviathan they had recently killed at Kuro Mountain. However, they were not just one or two individuals but dozens, perhaps even hundreds. The hive mind seemed to have produced them en masse, creating a formidable military unit.

Just the few hundred Leviathan warriors among the horde they had just faced had caused overwhelming problems all around the battlefield. The Elite Leviathans were nearly three times stronger than those warriors. If even fifty of those creatures had been present in the swarm, the war could have taken a drastically different turn. Even if the Xaos Forces had won, the cost of lives would have been much higher. A force like that could not be simply ignored.

Vlad stood with his generals and allies, contemplating the implications. "In the best-case scenario," he began, his voice heavy with contemplation, "the Elite Leviathan forces are kept deep inside the Monsoon Continent, protecting the obelisk that seems to be the core of the Leviathan Race."

He paused, his gaze distant as he considered the alternative. "Worst-case scenario..."

Vlad did not finish his sentence, but a solemn light appeared in his eyes. The weight of unspoken possibilities hung heavily in the air. Grand Marshal Anglius clenched his fist, understanding the unvoiced concern of the Xaos King.

"Worst-case scenario," Anglius voiced grimly, "they are silently moving towards Xaos City, ready to butcher everyone inside while the main forces of the Xaos Kingdom are fighting away."

Those words sent a chill through the room. Jormungandr, Freya, Ouroboros, and the rest of the powerhouses from the Xaos Kingdom felt a tremor run through them. The idea of their people perishing without them being able to do anything was horrifying. They had fought valiantly to protect their homeland, but the possibility that the enemy could bypass them and strike at the heart of their kingdom was a nightmare none wanted to face.

Vlad noticed the rising anxiety among his comrades and sought to calm their fears. "Our civilians are in Xaos City," he reassured them, his tone firm. "Overlord can ensure their safety due to the defenses of the city. The protective barriers and automated defenses are formidable. Even if the Elite Leviathans attempt an assault, they will not breach our walls easily."

His words brought some measure of relief, but a complicated expression appeared on Vlad’s face as he turned toward King Viserin. The Turkin Kingdom did not have a fortress like Xaos City to keep the Leviathans at bay. If the hive mind managed to extend its forces into the Asani Continent, the Turkin Kingdom would be in grave danger.

King Viserin met Vlad’s gaze, understanding the unspoken concern. He knew all too well the vulnerability of his people. They had forged a strong perimeter around the Molten Range, and he could only hope that their defenses and attacks would be enough to stop any form of hidden incursion from the north.

As everyone pondered and speculated about the location of the Elite Unit Leviathans, the metallic orb hovering above the central table—the communication device linked to Overlord—suddenly flickered to life. Overlord’s voice resonated throughout the tent.

"The Leviathans have already attacked the Asani Continent," Overlord announced.
